MANILA, Philippines – The results of the March 2023 Civil Service Exam, also known as the Career Service Examination-Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT), are set to be released online on Friday, June 9, 2023. This announcement will come seventy-five (75) calendar days after the exam took place.
According to the Civil Service Commission (CSC), the number of examinees for the March 26, 2023 civil service exam more than doubled, with 403,567 individuals participating compared to the 147,877 registrants for the August 7, 2022 exams.
Out of the total number of examinees, 350,645 individuals or 86.89% took the CSE-PPT for the Professional level, while 52,922 or 13.11% attempted the Subprofessional test. The exams were conducted in 94 testing centers across the country.
The CSC has stated that passers who achieved at least an 80 percent rating will be eligible for positions in the civil service, provided they meet the necessary qualifications, as well as educational, experiential, and training requirements.

CIVIL SERVICE EXAM COVERAGE
The CSE-PPT is a general ability test designed to measure an individual’s preparedness to enter government service.
The CSE-PPT covered the following subjects (in English and Filipino):
- Professional Level (Prof) -170 items with a time limit of 3 hours and 10 minutes
- Numerical Ability (number sequence, basic operation, and word problem)
- Analytical Ability (word analogy and logical reasoning)
- Verbal Ability (vocabulary, grammar and correct usage, and correct reasoning of thought process)
SubProfessional Level (SubProf) - 165 items; time limit is 2 hours and 40
minutes
- Numerical Ability (number sequence, basic operation, and word problem)
- Clerical Ability (filing, spelling)
- Verbal Ability (vocabulary, grammar and correct usage, and correct reasoning of thought process)
General information items on the following for both levels:
- Philippine Constitution;
- Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (R.A. 6713);
- Peace and Human Rights Issues and Concepts; and
- Environment Management and Protection
RELEASE OF RESULTS
The CSC initially targeted May 25, 2023 (Thursday) release of CSE-PPT results or 60 calendar days after the examination. This was announced through CSC Examination Announcement No. 11 s. 2022.
But in a Facebook post on April 13, CSC announced the new schedule for the release of the result of CSE-PPT citing huge volume of examinees.
To quote, CSC said: "With the huge volume of examinees for the 26 March 2023 Career Service Examination-Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT), both Professional and Subprofessional levels, the CSC has adjusted its timelines and adopted measures to address concerns on test results processing. As such, the new schedule for the release of the result of the CSE-PPT) is on 9 June 2023."
Examinees, both passed and failed, may get their individual test results using the Online Civil Service Examination Result Generation System (OCSERGS), which can also be accessed through the CSC website on June 24, 2023.
